Grant Wood's American Gothic, painted in 1930, is one of the most famous and most parodied paintings in America: a stern farmer holding a pitchfork beside a woman in front of their Gothic-windowed farmhouse. Instantly recognisable, it's a fun and iconic piece for lovers of American art.

WHAT IS IN A PATTERN

Printable PDF chart (A4 or US Letter), a color cover page of the finished design, a DMC thread list with lengths needed, step-by-step stitching instructions, full color symbol chart and an instant download after checkout.

Works on phone, tablet, or computer — and fully compatible with Pattern Keeper for digital progress tracking.

HOW YOU RECEIVE IT

You get a download link on the order page and by email straight after checkout.

STANDARD VS LARGER

We give you two symbol size options so you can stitch the way you love.

Standard Symbols – A little bigger than the usual charts, these fit more of the pattern on each A4 page. Perfect if you like fewer pages and are comfy with regular-sized symbols.

Large Symbols – Around 30% bigger, making them super easy on the eyes. They do take up more pages, but many stitchers find them much more relaxing to follow.

Note: Bundled Sets may not include the option of Larger Symbols.

RETURNS

Unfortunately for digital downloads, we have a no-return policy. However if there is an issue with your chart, do let us know and we will replace the chart for you.

About the artist

Grant Wood

Grant Wood (1891–1942) painted the American Midwest with a quiet wit, a sharp eye, and a love for the land that made him one of the most distinctive voices in American Regionalist art. His most famous work, American Gothic, is one of the most parodied and immediately recognisable images in American culture — a stern farmer and his daughter standing before a Gothic Revival farmhouse with an expression that could mean almost anything.

Thank you

The package was nicely wrapped and easy to see all the parts and get started. It was two days off of the shipping dates provided, but I expected it because of the snow. I have started on the project, but don't feel I can give it five stars yet because I have one corner completed so far and I am not sure how the entire thing is going to look.
