Jean Bourdichon (c.1457–1521) was the court painter and illuminator to four successive French kings — Charles VIII, Louis XII, Anne of Brittany, and Francis I — which is either a remarkable testament to his talent and diplomatic skill or the most impressive record of surviving regime change in the history of French art, possibly both.
