Federico Zandomeneghi (1841–1917) was the Italian Impressionist who Paris claimed as its own. Born in Venice and trained in the Italian academic tradition, he arrived in Paris in the 1870s, fell in with the Impressionists, and developed a style of intimate figure painting that was uniquely his — softer than Degas, warmer than Monet, and entirely focused on the quiet pleasures of Parisian feminine life.
