Buying from overseas used to be simple. Now every country has its own import rules: thresholds that change, taxes that vary by product and a courier bill waiting at your door. A kit you were excited about can turn into a surprise charge, a form to fill in or a parcel held at customs.
We don't think a cross stitch kit should come with homework.
That's why we ship DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to the countries listed on our shipping page. Where duties and taxes apply, we calculate them at checkout, you pay them with your order, and we take care of the rest with FedEx.
If we didn't, FedEx would collect the duties and taxes from you when the parcel arrives. When a courier collects import charges on your behalf, it adds its own administration (disbursement) fee on top, and you would pay that fee as well as the duties and taxes themselves.
When we pay the duties and taxes upfront, FedEx collects nothing from you at the door, and we cover that administration fee ourselves. You are never charged for it.
Very rarely, a courier may contact you by mistake and ask for payment of duties or taxes. If that happens, please don't pay. Contact us instead, and we'll speak to FedEx and settle it on your behalf.
Nothing is wrong. It means your order is below your country's import threshold, so there's nothing to pay, now or on delivery.
Import rules will keep changing. We'll keep tracking them so you can focus on choosing your next design.
