Philip de László was the leading society portraitist of his age, and his portrait of Edwina, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, shows her with dark flowing hair and a steady gaze, painted in rich ochres, rust and deep reds. It's an elegant, atmospheric portrait with a timeless glamour.

WHAT IS IN A PATTERN

Printable PDF chart (A4 or US Letter), a color cover page of the finished design, a DMC thread list with lengths needed, step-by-step stitching instructions, full color symbol chart and an instant download after checkout.

Works on phone, tablet, or computer — and fully compatible with Pattern Keeper for digital progress tracking.

HOW YOU RECEIVE IT

You get a download link on the order page and by email straight after checkout.

STANDARD VS LARGER

We give you two symbol size options so you can stitch the way you love.

Standard Symbols – A little bigger than the usual charts, these fit more of the pattern on each A4 page. Perfect if you like fewer pages and are comfy with regular-sized symbols.

Large Symbols – Around 30% bigger, making them super easy on the eyes. They do take up more pages, but many stitchers find them much more relaxing to follow.

Note: Bundled Sets may not include the option of Larger Symbols.

RETURNS

Unfortunately for digital downloads, we have a no-return policy. However if there is an issue with your chart, do let us know and we will replace the chart for you.

About the artist

Philip de Laszlo

Philip de Laszlo (1869–1937) was the portrait painter that royalty and aristocracy turned to when they wanted to look their absolute best — a Hungarian-born British artist whose dazzling technical facility, psychological acuity, and genuine warmth toward his sitters produced portraits of extraordinary quality and appeal. He painted King Edward VII, Emperor Franz Joseph, Pope Leo XIII, and seemingly every notable figure in early 20th-century European society, bringing to each a freshness and vitality that set him apart from the more formal portraitists of his era.

Love the Countess

The pattern was easy to download. Love all the colours of this pattern as they look like the colours of fall leaves which we see now in Canada. Great fall project🙏
