Pyotr Konchalovsky (1876–1956) was one of the most exuberant and colour-saturated painters in the history of Russian art — a bold Post-Impressionist whose still lifes, portraits, and landscapes vibrate with a joyful energy and chromatic intensity that makes his canvases feel almost physically warm. His flower paintings in particular are extraordinary — massive, overflowing arrangements of lilac, peonies, and roses painted with a loose, generous brushwork and colour so rich it practically jumps off the canvas.
