Doing our Part for the environment
We love nature, animals, the sky, and the sea. We want our children to enjoy these wonders in the future, so we strive to minimize waste without increasing costs.
We love nature: the sky, the sea, the animals and the green spaces that inspire so many of our designs. We want the next generation of stitchers to enjoy them too. As a small business, we can't change the world overnight, but we can make thoughtful choices that reduce waste without passing extra costs on to you. Here's how we do our part.
1. Printing on Both Sides of the Paper
We print our charts double-sided wherever we can. It uses less paper, and it also makes each kit lighter to ship, which helps us keep shipping costs down. If a parcel ever tips over a weight limit because of it, we cover the difference.
2. Embracing Small Imperfections
If there's a tiny misprint on a thread card, we don't throw it away and reprint. Instead, we use correction tape or leave a minor misalignment as it is. These little quirks are a sign that your kit was put together by a real person, not mass-produced on a factory line, and we think that adds to its charm.
3. Using Recycled Kraft Board
Our kits include a sturdy recycled kraft board to protect your chart in the post. Don't throw it away! It makes a handy backing board for the chart page you're working from, keeping it flat and protected while you stitch.
4. Offering Digital Patterns
If you already have fabric and thread, our instant PDF patterns are the greenest option of all: no printing, no packaging and no shipping. They work beautifully with apps like Pattern Keeper, which let you mark off stitches as you go.
How You Can Stitch More Sustainably
Every stitcher can make a difference too:
- Use up your stash. Leftover fabric and thread are perfect for small projects. See saving money on cross stitch for ideas.
- Waste less thread. Shorter lengths tangle less, so fewer strands get cut off and thrown away. Read preventing twists and knots.
- Turn scraps into something useful. Small finished pieces make lovely bookmarks, coasters and patches. Find more ideas in 10 creative ways to display finished cross stitch.
- Care for your finished work. A well-kept piece lasts for generations. Learn how to care for your finished cross stitch.
Every small step counts, and your awareness makes a difference. Thank you for stitching with us.
