Hope Cross Stitch Pattern | Sir Edward Burne-Jones

Hope by Sir Edward Burne-Jones

Edward Burne-Jones’s Hope (1896) is one of the most evocative and allegorical paintings from the late Pre-Raphaelite period. The painting depicts a barefoot woman in a flowing blue gown, personifying Hope, one of the theological virtues. She is bound by chains to the ground but raises her arm towards the sky, her eyes fixed upward with a look of yearning and faith. In her hand, she holds a branch with blossoms, signifying renewal and life even amidst hardship.

Redesigned to be better...

What the changes are:

  • The Call to Arms now bigger and better at 17 x 20 inches!
  • Starry Night over the Rhone now at the full size of the original art at 10 x 15 inches (previously 10 x 14 inches)
  • Daisies redesigned to be clearer and easier to stitch.
  • Christ at 33 now with a one shade background so it's easy to stitch with or without background which is great for bags and cushions!
  • Horses of Neptune now comes in bigger and more detailed at 11x28 inches.
  • Both Sunflower designs by Daniel Froeschl now come with a stitched white background.
